Martin Peaty BVSc CertEP CertES(Orth) MRCVS Martin qualified from The University of Bristol in 1990. He worked in Devon for two years followed by two years in Surrey before coming to The Barn in 1994. Martin has over twenty years experience of horse care, breeding and competitive riding including Team Chasing and Polo. He was drafted into the riding teams at University and summer vacations saw him instructing both here and in the USA. Martin is takes a keen interest in horseracing and is Senior Veterinary Surgeon at Salisbury Racecourse. In 1999 Martin was awarded the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) Certificate in Equine Practice (CertEP) and has been RCVS Examiner in this subject. Martin is a president of the Southern Counties Veterinary Society, a member of the RCVS Riding Establishments Inspectorate, Official Measurer of the Joint Measurement Board and on the RCVS list of visitors for formal visitations to UK veterinary schools to monitor the standard of approved degrees. Martin's areas of special professional interest include lameness in horses including orthopaedic and wound surgery, which he carries out for the practice and for referring veterinary surgeons. Arthroscopic or 'keyhole' joint surgery forms an increasing part of the surgical caseload. Martin is involved in thoroughbred and sports horse studwork including chilled and frozen artificial insemination. The latter is carried out by deep intraruterine insemination and low dose hysteroscopic insemination can be carried out. Hobbies include polo and skiing. Martin played at number one in the New Forest team which won the prestigious Bluejackets tournament in 1999.
