Chris Pearce BVSc CertEM(IntMed) BAEDT MRCVS

Chris Pearce qualified from Liverpool University in 1990. He worked in Worcestershire for 3 years before moving to Dorset and then to The Barn in 1996, entering into partnership with Martin Peaty in 1997.

Chris has ridden and kept horses since the age of 11 and as a teenager was in the GB Modern Pentathlon squad. Chris then spent a year in Australia before University, working on a traditional cattle and horse breeding station in Queensland, about the size of Wiltshire!

Chris' professional interests are dentistry, internal medicine and soft tissue surgery. In 2001, Chris became the first vet to become an 'equine dentist' by passing the Equine Dentistry Certification Examination (BAEDT/BEVA*) and is one of two chief examiners for equine dentistry in the UK (examining equine dental technicians and vets). He is also a member of the BEVA Working Party for Equine Dentistry responsible for advising on political aspects, and BEVA* Council member responsible for equine dentistry issues.

Chris runs the practice equine dentistry referral service, and examines, lectures and demonstrates equine dentistry at between six and eight courses annually held around the country, and occasionally in the USA. This has placed the practice at the forefront of equine dentistry in the UK.

Chris also performs most of the soft tissue surgery for first opinion and referral cases, and in 2002 was awarded the RCVS Certificate of Internal Medicine by examination, one of only a handful of vets in private practice to hold this qualification.

Chris keeps five horses at home in Witchampton and when time permits he show-jumps, hunts and team chases locally.

Chris also sails, plays the piano and is the local church organist when not on duty - available for weddings and christenings by appointment!

Chris is married to Karen, a small animal vet, and they have three young sons Joseph, Elliot and Freddie.
